Miriam Leiberman has an emotive and unmistakable voice. She is known for her own unique style on kora -West African harp, the guitar as well as her songwriting.

Miriam will perform as a trio alongside stellar strings players  Susie Bishop and Carl St Jacques. They add soaring string arrangements and luscious vocal harmonies.

Playing the kora – an instrument that is even in Africa, rarely played by women, Miriam’s songs carry a feminine perspective reminiscent of Joni Mitchell. While her songs affectionately are related to the backdrop of Australia’s wild land and seascape, Miriam also merges the sounds of West Africa. These influences come from the long periods of time she spent living in and studying traditional music in Guinea and Mali. She has studied under celebrated musicians including kora player Toumani Diabate. Her songs, infused with African rhythms yield a feeling of Wanderlust.
Miriam and her trio have been busy touring the latest album Full Circle around the country – A work that Rhythms magazine described as “A thing of intoxicating beauty” (Nov 2016) Her song Legacy won an Australian SongWriters Association Award.

Miriam’s previous album Birds Of The Moon (Nov 2014) made Album Of The Week on Radio National. She has toured extensively both nationally and internationally including at festivals in Japan, Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, Mali, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Introspective and playful, multilingual singer-songwriter STAV. continues her story of migration with soaring melodies and bursts of rhythmic fire. An expressive voice playing as one instrument with her guitar, she has a compelling ability to tell a story in song in English, Hebrew and French. Stav was born in Israel, grew up in a small town in Australia and is now based in Melbourne city. Blurring the lines between singing and spoken word, STAV. is totally at home on stage, solo and with her band.

Since releasing her debut album ‘The Horizon Line’ (2016), she has performed in Canada, Spain, France, Israel and at the major folk festivals across Australia.

Live performance brings this songwriter’s introspection, playfulness and raw passion to life.

Her recent single ‘Weakening, Awakening’ was premiered on Triple J in 2018 and her newest single ‘Poison Remedy’ was reviewed by Happy Mag as “truly unique and captivating”. The project toured Canada for the month of February, including the Folk Alliance International conference represented by Sounds Australia and Stav has performed at Woodford, Port Fairy, The Blue Mountains and The National Folk Festival this year.
